I was there, yes I was there – I witnessed an incredible FMX spectacle at an unbelievable location in front of the St. Basil’s basilica in Moscow’s Red Square. I am still out of breath from all the action and all my screaming – I was there with Jancis and the winners from our Moscow ticket completion – they turned out to be lovely, sexy Russian ladies. And what we all saw was FMX at the highest level on a very, very difficult and challenging course.
The only bad news about this event came before the event: Australia’s Blake Williams begin_of_the_skype_highlighting     end_of_the_skype_highlighting fell heavily during free training was not able to compete in Saturday night’s main event due to a broken collar bone and concussion suffered as a result of the crash.
Here is my event report:
1st round:
- Alex Kolesnikov – 346 points – solid run by the Russian local hero
- Mat Rebeaud – 380 points – he missed one jump on that difficult course but he proved that he is back and ready for more.
- Jim McNeil – 389 points – great run by Jumping Jim – missed one cordova flip and that was not enough against the strong competition.
- Cam Sinclair – 395 points – showed 12 great jumps and earned a spot in the quarter final.
- Adam Jones – 415 points – The Egypt winner dominated the first round and showed all of his signature tricks like stripper flip or turntable.
Quarter final:
>Villa vs Torres: 0-5 : Andre Villa showed unbelievable stuff, he mastered the difficult course and surprised everyone by flipping the landing hill :-) That was more than strong Spaniard Dani Torres could answered. Villa into Semi Final!
>Sato vs. Maddo: 1-4: Eigo was simply Eigo… great style, great flips, great extensions not a perfect run but it put pressure on Robbie Maddison. The Australian daredevil really wanted to win and maybe pushed it too hard. Maddo almost crashed on a superflip and that was it for the night. Sato into Semi final.
>Jones vs Adams 0 – 5: In the Adams family duel Adam Jones hat serious problems and completed only half of the tricks so it was easy for Nate to reach the next round without showing his best stuff. Nate Adams into Semi final!
> Cam Sinclair  vs Levi Sherwood 0 -5 : Cam did a great and solid run – he even double flipped – but just his bike alone – And Levi Sherwood? – well he was a class of his own: all tricks with insane extension – that’s why we call him the rubber kid. Levi into Semi final.
Semi Finals:
>Sato vs. Adams: 0 – 5 Sato showed his unique stylel and one incredible superflip but it was not enough to beat the destroyer: Nate Adams was flawless and showed trick after trick: lazyboy flip, cordova flip, 360 nac and so on… Adams into the final!
>Villa vs Levis: 1-4 : That was the true final between the two strongest riders on the difficult Moscow course. Villa showed why he is in the lead of this year’s Red Bull X-Fighters World Tour – but even his best performance was not enough to stop the “wunderkind” from New Zealand. Levi into final!
Final:
Adams vs Levi: 2 – 3: Nate Adams was strong but he had to pay tribute to the difficult track and very untypical Destroyer style he even missed two tricks. And Levis Sherwood? To the sound of Bill Idols “We did not start the fire” – Levi launched a firework of breathtaking and hot tricks (including maybe the best EVER tsunami flip) – and after dominating the qualifying yesterday he is the new zsar of Russia.
