Update on Cam – Day 10

Article posted on Monday, July, 27th, 2009 at 8:07 am

In Gods Hands

Hey Guys,

I’m sorry I missed an update yesterday, after leaving the hospital, Dad, Monz and myself went to see a Real Madrid match, by the time it finished i had to go straight back to the hospital to stay the night.

So Day 10, Cam is going great. He can now get into his wheel chair regularly and go outside for some fresh air. Getting in and out of the chair can still be a struggle as his right side is very weak but as the days go by he gets stronger. His memory continues to get better and he is actually starting to get a cheeky with us and the hospital staff.

Tomorrow will see another MRI scan of his brain to make sure everything is ok and that the bleeding has stopped. When he receives the results on Wednesday, they will be able to determine when he can leave Spain for Australia. We are hopefull that it will be Friday. Once Cam is home, the rehab will start and he will need a lot of time relaxing. At the moment they are saying 6-12 months off the bike, I think it will be a lot closer to 6 than 12.

As I write this, i’m at the Madrid Airport waiting for my flight home. Mum, Dad, Brooke and Monz will stay in Madrid to look after Cam while i have to get home to work.

Spain and it’s people have been amazing, i’ve made a lot of new friends and i look forward to returning to Spain under much better circumstances.

Thanks again to all the crew at Red Bull Spain for being so supportive, I don’t think we could have got through this without you.

I have a long trip home and by the time i get there we should have the results from Cam’s MRI Scan and an update of when he will likely return to Australia. I’ll keep you informed as soon as i can.

I’m sorry this is short but i’m about to miss my flight. Thanks for the posistive comments and your support.
Mick Sinclair
