Update on Cam.

Well after 28 hours of travelling, i’m finally in Madrid. I went from the airport straight to the hospital and was allowed to see him after hours. When i saw him the 28 hours was worth every second. Brooke and Monz had prepared me for the worst in regards to the way he looked so i was prepared for the machines, the tubes, the grazes all over his face and body.
I told him i was here and he opened his eyes and tried a little smile. I asked him to squeeze my hand and he gave it a squeeze. I then told him to check out the T-Shirt i was wearing, it was a SOUTHSIDE/BRONTE HOLLAND T and his eyes almost popped out of his head and tried to sit up. It was a great reaction.
We met with the Neurosurgeon not long after and they checked his brain for a second time. This time they found bleeding deep inside his brain and this maybe the reason why he can’t move the right side of his body very well. They said that it could repair itself and he will be fine and of course they have to tell us the worst that he may not be able to use that side of his body that well which i’m sure won’t be the case.
Now that he is breathing by himself, there was talk today that he may have the tubes removed from his mouth and nose which will make him a bit more comfortable.
We have been completely overwhelmed by the support we have received. From everyone here at RedBull Spain with helping Mum, Bailey and myself get here to Spain. The Metul Mulisha with organising Docter G in the US to relay back to us what the Spanish doctors have been saying. Once again Maddo and Amy, words can’t describe how much we appreciate everything they did while they were here and all the support from back home from the text msgs we have been getting, emails from friends and the massive amount of fans, the Australian media, Fullnoise and Facebook.
We go back in tomorrow at 12noon for an update and then we get to see him at 12:30pm (11 hours time). I’ll update everyone when i get a chance tomorrow.
The doctors have asked us to chat with him while we are in there with him. If you could please leave a msg for him here on the site and i’ll print them out each day and read them to him.

It was amazing to get Micks news this morning that you have been responsive and have already come this far in your recovery.
To think only this time last year you were still practicing the double flip and to have now gone 4th, 3rd, 2nd at what is probably THE MOST prestige freestyle series in the world, whilst effortlessly planting double flip after double flip and seeing the rest of your range of tricks get bigger and smoother is unreal!!
With the effort and balls that has got you to the top of the world in the sport already, in such a short amount of time, reflects in your recovery, I’m sure you will be back in no time.
Maybe when you’re back up and running, you and Monz can come and do a highly unorganised signing at a Darwin Servo again, heh. Man that was shit.

Hope your doing alright mate. I’m sure you will be fine and tearing it up again soon, if you choose to. Don’t give up bud, keep fighting to get 100% fit again. Use Jono and Bronte as inspiration. You know they are up there now looking over you mate, and they wouldn’t want you to give up on trying to get fit and healthy again.
I remember seeing you ride for the first time in 2003, doing an expression session on a kx125. The #18 was going insane in the expression session, then 2 minutes later, was tearing up one of the hardest supercross tracks Australia has seen. Pretty much speaks for your whole career right there. Always so busy riding, whether it is FMX, MX or SX. Although You always make time for the fans and media, no matter what.
This is just a minor speedbump mate. You will be back out there again soon. And you will always have Jono and Bronte watching over you and supporting you no matter what you decide to do after this.

One of those times was at a rather large get together up in Brisvaygas for someones weekend bucks shinnanigans!!! Good times!! Something else we find ourselves in AWE over is just how fukn tuff you are mate – there were sms’s flying backwards and forwards between me and your bro’ the weekend you hurt your ankles and I could not believe you came out and nailed another awesome run – obviously in a fair amount of pain…. Your an animal!!! Your tuff and I have no doubt you will pull through this and I will be looking forward to catching up for another ale (or 10) when you get back!! Cameron Cameron Cameron!!! What a fright you have given us all. You have no idea how releived we are to hear that you are responding to all of the fantastic treatment you are receiving. It has been hard being on the other side of the world from you and Brooke but it brings me great comfort to know your brother and mum are now with you. I was there, friday and my blood froze when I saw what happened. I stayed there until the end, only to hear some update abut you, but they didn’t say anything. At the exit I tried to look for somebody who was able to give me some news but there was nobody.
I went home and immediatly started surfing the web trying to find some information and once again nothing…
Saturday was more of the same…
Finaly I decided to write an e-mail to Adam Bailey who was kind enough to reply and for that I thank him with all my heart.
He said that after you surgery you were recovering and things were starting to look more positive. Man, YOU ARE REALLY AN XFIGHTER! Not only on the bike but in life! You’re the man!! Keep on fighting. I’m with you and all your fans are with you.

was shocked to hear about what happened when i got back in the country on saturday night. well you don’t come off much Cam, but when you do it, you bloody do it in style thats for sure. its been all over the news and everything here mate. i went to a conference today and i think about 20 people who have probably never ridden a bike in their lives where asking me if i knew you and how you were doing.
great to hear that your family is all over there with you now and are able to be there to support you.
praying that your recovery is swift and you can get yourself up and out of that hospital in no time.
stay strong mate and keep your focus on getting better.
thoughts are with Mick and the family as well. sometimes i think sitting at the side of the hospital bed is harder than being the one in it.

Not only are you pulling off the double back flip but you are taking to an entirely new level. A double isnt hard enough for you, You need to be doing extreme tricks at the same time. I got the news while watching Jake race moto and to say it stopped me in my tracks would be an under statement. When Jake came in I told him and his face just dropped. About an hour later Dad rang me after he heard about the crash on a news cast. What I’m trying to say is you’re one hell of a bloke Cam with a fan base in my family spanning 3 generations.
All the crew at work asked about you when I rocked up this morning and all raised a smile as better news broke through out the day.

I just wanted to wish you luck man. This sport is getting so damn dangerous that I can’t even imagine what you all must go through on a daily basis just to stay in the game. One thing I just wanted to say is this…..
Don’t let this get you down too bad everyone. I had a bad crash 6 years ago and burst my kidney (much like your liver). It was the hardest year of my life. Before the accident, I had no doubt in my mind I WOULD be famous. I was preparing for the flip before it was really normal. I was on a mission. It was my life.
Don’t let happen to you what happened to me. I lost my drive. I gave up. Don’t get me wrong, I still ride and I will still flip but everyone in my life didn’t want me to ride anymore. I realized that it wasn’t a good idea to risk my life when I didn’t get paid. Don’t let all that shit get to you. Get back on asap because I can tell you right now that if you don’t go back to what you were, your life will never be the same.

Im Parker from Colorado. When I knew I was visiting Spain and saw those three doubles on TV from Texas there was no way I was missing getting to see you and robbie and tweak. I saw the crash in person and it was hard to see as a fellow rider. Everybody crashes hard at some time or the other but you´ll pull through in no time. I know the hospital probabally sucks. Just add salt to all the food and it might be bareable. I used to spend 4 months at a time in the hospital when first I had an internal staph infection and almost lost my leg and then when i got cancer and had to do chemo. When you get out it won´t seem so bad. Get back on that bike soon. FMX needs you man.

I was at Red Bull X-fighters..it was amazing what you did the previous day..the double time double back flip! For real? I’ve never been interested in this Sport before..I just went there to help the fellow collegues of red bull spain, as i work for R&B in Portugal, but when i saw you acting on thursday, when i saw the great person that you are for all the fans, always available, always happy! You made me like the way you ride, you made me like the sport!
Before you enter to the rider’s area on friday your girlfriend was very happy to see in the crowd some fans that asked you to repeat the double back flip, i remember she took a photo and you cheer them, i was at the media area also with you guy’s..i saw all this moments all the joy in your and her eyes!
You really don’t deserve this, or she! You make this sport being worth to see, you make this sport a big show, you are the sport man! For me at least!

Good to hear things are coming along well for you and many of our club have been keeping up with what is going on as they are all over the world it seems.
You have come a long way since you turned up at Horsham with Bronte and Bilco for a clubby years ago. That was my first intro to the Southside Boys, a few young grommets pulling out some tricks over the big tabletop which was at the dawn of time of Freestyle just getting going worldwide.
At that time Freestyle was the rebel thing and was not accepted at racing level and unfortunately I was the guy (steward) that had to curb “that kind of behaviour” so the kids didn’t start “all that shit” and “crash their brains out”, even though it was cool to watch. Didn’t stop the kids either……
Well you and the sport have come a long way since then and the Southside Boys are tight as.
Ran into Grady Holland last night in Horsham and he said that Sue, Gunna and him are doing great. Sue’s back in Melbourne at the moment working and tiding up and Gunna is doing his own thing which he does.
Grady is leaving to US for a month on Saturday to go to X Games, lucky prick.. USA will never be the same again after he is finished with it…
